I’m very chuffed to announce that some of my logo design work was published in the Gestalten publication Los Logos 6 last month!

Los Logos is a book championing some of the amazing logo design work that goes on around the world.

The logo design was for a client I work with who sadly didn’t choose this option. But those publishers of all things cool Gestalten, thought it worthy to grace their 6th edition in the popular series of Los Logos.

If logos, type and design get you all flustered like they do me, you should check the book out and Gestaltens other publications.

They do design publications better than most in my opinion!

Baz, Dave and Micheal – all smile before the BHF Bike Ride

I’m happy to say that this Sunday just passed, myself and a few good friends took part in and completed the 50 mile bike ride around Warwickshire in aid of the British Heart Foundation.

I want to say that it was fun and pleasurable, but I can’t and won’t! The first 25 miles felt like a doddle, but the ‘wall’ was hit at about 25 miles and it was all pretty gruelling from then on in.

Although there were some slight deviations to our routes (looking out for signs while at the same time staring at your feet willing them to pedal on is my excuse) and some pretty sore sensitive areas.

Big thanks to the other riders on the route who were willing us on (I think they could tell quite early on, we were no professionals) the Hurton family for shouting us on through from Napton and everyone that has donated to the British Heart Foundation.

After serious consideration, we have decided that the next challenge we undertake is far less gruelling – and that we will probably train next time!

This Sunday myself and an old school mate are going to be hauling our sorry selves around the beautiful Warwickshire countryside on a 50 mile bike ride – all for the very worthy cause – the British Heart Foundation.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and achieving high Google Rankings has become a lucrative industry for many a digital agency and web development companies. I’ve heard of people paying anything from £100 to £5,000 per month to achieve the holiest of holys’ – the number on listing on Google.

But what many a business do not know is that there are easy ways for you to try and achieve higher rankings, on a budget and by yourself.

The key to achieving higher ranking is creating relevant and regular content on your website. It can’t be any old news or ramblings. It needs to be punchy, relevant to the reader and importantly full of keyword rich content.

Some of the logo design out there these days is truly awful. In some cases it’s enough to have the perpetrators arrested for crimes against Graphic Design. But Police in the States have taken this to extremes.

Alexander Schaefer was arrested last month outside Chase Banks Headquarters for sketching in chalk slightly amended versions of the Chase Banks logo. Who would of thought that sign writing in a washable media on pavements would be so dangerous!

Bear Ethics are a clothing label who not only sell nice garments, but they do nice things! For every tshirt they sell, a tshirt goes to a charity that clothes kids in developing countries. The logo started life as a stencil and was created by Bear Ethics main man Paul Moore, which is a first for me – a client presenting a logo that they have created themselves!
